proud mamma

ok so by now a lot of you know that music is my life. well so are my friends. well in early '07 is when i started actually going to concerts & really getting into the music scene. as time has passed i've gained friendships & some pretty good connections in this scene. now i don't ever plan on being a musician (i do plan on being a music photographer though), so what do i do with this advantage i have? go help out local bands that i know deserve the boast! i don't call myself a promoter because promoters advertise for several different bands & are just all over the place. i prefer to street team. now let me break down what a street teamer does.

we:
  1. set up a website page for anyone to see & hear the music
  2. spread the word about the artist to everyone we know & don't know
  3. attend all their shows to support them
  4. get everyone we can to also come to the shows
  5. help biuld a solid fanbase

i call this my "job" & i love my job. and i love the boys i work for, but i didn't always love the guys i worked with. i've only street teamed for 2 bands (counting the one i'm with now) & they were both so different. not in just their genre but in literally everything besides their drummers [who's the same person].

let me give some background history. i street teamed for a band called Systillia for probably not even a whole month (thanks to them breaking up), but i had been going to their shows for probably 3. during the only major thing i ever did for them i started talking to their drummer. i had to sell tickets to their only huge show at school then give the money to the guys so i could deliver the tickets. well i had to go meet up with Ryan [drummer] and i was instantly very fond of him. he's a sweet guy that i just didn't really know all that well yet. well Systillia broke up, i was pissed, but i kept in touch with Ryan.

february comes around and Ryan hits me up letting me know that he's in a band [Designing Me] now, a new band. i didn't look into them for quite some time, then during the summer i actually started going to their shows & realized how good these guys really are. that's when i knew i had to help these guys.

[L-R] Aaron, Ryan, Drew, TJ, & Jose

the boys are so wonderful & sweet. they're my friends & they don't feel like they're "above" me and that i'm just a kid helping them out. when they see me they'll come greet me & hug me. the guys from Systillia were cold, distant, & ungrateful. they never thanked me for the things i did. the Designing Me boys are so thankful to what i do & are always letting me know that they truely are.

lately the guys have been succeding so much. they're getting bigger gigs, they're getting back into the studio soon, & just so many other things. when it comes to them i'm like a proud mamma. i brag about them & just love talking about them. i just love my boys :D
